Phase: Warm Up

Spread hoops out within a defined area. Players start at a hoop with another player. Both players copy and repeat a bouncing pattern at their hoop five times, before moving to an empty hoop to repeat the pattern an additional five times.

Patterns:

  • skier
  • right leg land
  • left leg land
  • hopscotch -one foot in, two feet out
  • scotch hop -two feet in one foot out
  • cross overs
  • scissors
  • round the clock
  • twist and turn

Progressions 

  • start with simple footwork patterns before adding more complex skills.
  • players make up their own pattern and share this with the rest of the group.
  • Increase the number of hoops each pair must preform at.

Modifications

Increase the distance between hoops. reduce the number of hoops. Travel forward, backward and sideways

Special Needs Modifications

Reduce the distance between hoops. Reduce the number of times the pattern must be completed.
