Select playing teams with a minimum of 5 players and a maximum of 10. So for a class of 21 or more you will need to select 4 teams, playing on two fields. The playing fields will be set up with a rectangle of cones at each end which is the scoring zone. This scoring zone can be accessed from all 4 sides.
One team will start with the rugby ball and their aim is to run the ball into the scoring zone. Passes can be made in any direction but they need to be rugby passes. The defending team are trying to rip one or both bands off the player with the ball. If the band gets ripped the defender stands still with the ripper band in the air and the player must return to make a pass to a team mate and collect their ripper band. Once the defending team has made 5 rips the ball will be turned over. At the start the defending team is not allowed to intercept or pick up a drop ball. If the attacking team manages to run the ball into the scoring zone they will be awarded one point and the ball will commence again with the other team at half way.
As the game progresses the defending team will now be allowed to intercept and pick up the ball in a drop ball situation. However, a drop ball is not an automatic turnover, it will go to whichever team picks the rugby ball up.
