Divide the class into 6 groups that consist of 3 students and space them along a line of a court in single file lines (can use coloured spots to form lines space them out enough so nobody gets hit with racquets). From this line each group is positioned along, spread gear out in front of them 5metre away (depending on ability/year level of class this gap can increase/decrease) which will be their target. Gear used could consist of: tall cones, short cones, hurdles, other balls (basketballs, soccer balls, dodgeballs). The player at the front of their teams line will pick up the racquet, aim and hit the object in the direction of target they want to knock over. If they successfully hit an object, they will place the racquet on the ground, run out to retrieve this object plus grab their hitting object and run back to their team. The object they hit will be placed in a hula hoop - "treasure chest" and they will go to the back of the line. The next player will step forward, pick up the racquet and will repeat the same process. Once all treasure/targets have been hit, count up to see which team managed to collect the most.
RULES:
- A player must only have one hit at a time
- If your hitting object makes contact with more than one target, you will collect them and take back to your teams hula hoop
- Treasure that has not been hit but students collect anyway will have that piece taken off them
PROGRESSION:
- Increase the gap between hitters and targets
- Start with hitting object off tea with their hand, add in pool noodles then progress to a racquet
