Editing Plans — The Rich Content Editor

Step 2

✏️ Step 2: Editing Lesson Plans

Plans have rich text content areas that use a powerful WYSIWYG editor (CKEditor).

Editable Content Sections

Each plan has several sections you can edit:

Section What It Contains Where It Shows
IntroductionThe opening section of the lesson — objectives, what students will learn, any prerequisitesTop of the plan view page
DescriptionThe AI prompt (also used as a summary in lists)Plan cards in program view
SummaryA wrap-up section with key takeaways or next stepsBottom of the plan view page
NotesPrivate notes for yourself (not shown to students)Only in edit view

Using the Rich Text Editor

The editor supports:

  • 📝 Text formatting — bold, italic, headings, lists, tables
  • 🖼️ Images — upload or paste images directly
  • 🎥 Video embeds — paste YouTube/Vimeo embed codes
  • 🔗 Links — link to external resources
  • 📊 HTML — switch to source view for direct HTML editing

💡 Tip: Each content section also supports direct video embed fields (Introduction Video, Description Video, etc.) for embedded YouTube/Vimeo players alongside the text content.
Step 3 of 6

Editing Activities & Pushing Changes

Step 3

📌 Step 3: Editing Activities

Activities are the most frequently edited content type. Here's the workflow:

Accessing Activity Edit

  1. From a plan view, click on an activity title to open it
  2. Click "Edit" or "Settings" in the navigation strip
  3. Or navigate directly to /step/view/:stepId and click Edit

Activity Content Fields

Each activity has a single rich content area plus additional content fields:

Field Purpose
ContentThe main teaching content — instructions, explanations, demonstrations
WorksheetDownloadable or printable worksheet content
Step-by-Step GuideA sequential guide for the instructor
GamesGame ideas related to this activity
ExamplesWorked examples or demonstrations

🔄 Pushing Changes to Plans

After editing a standalone activity, use "Push Changes" to update all plans that contain this activity:

  1. Save your activity edits
  2. Click "Push Changes"
  3. The system finds all plans with this activity in their steps array
  4. Each plan's embedded copy is updated with the new content
  5. A confirmation shows how many plans were updated

⚠️ Important: Push Changes overwrites the embedded copies. If someone manually edited a plan's embedded version, those changes will be replaced by the activity's current content.
Step 4 of 6

Using the Fine-Tune Feature

Step 4

🎯 Step 4: Fine-Tuning with AI

The Fine-tune tab is one of the most powerful features in Smart Moves. It lets you selectively improve parts of your content using AI.

How Fine-Tune Works

  1. Navigate to any plan or activity
  2. Click the "Fine-tune" tab in the navigation strip
  3. You'll see each content section with a "Regenerate" or "Improve" option
  4. Choose what to improve and optionally provide specific instructions
  5. The AI rewrites just that section while keeping everything else

Fine-Tune Use Cases

📝 Improve Writing

"Make this more engaging for young children"

➕ Add Detail

"Add safety warnings for pool area"

🔄 Change Tone

"Make this more professional for corporate training"

📐 Restructure

"Break this into numbered steps instead of paragraphs"

💡 Tip: Fine-tune keeps the overall structure intact — it only rewrites the section you select. This is much faster than regenerating the entire plan.
Step 5 of 6

Managing Images & Videos

Step 5

🖼️ Step 5: Images & Video

Rich media makes your content more engaging and useful. Every content level supports images and video.

Image Options

Each content section (introduction, description, summary, notes) can have:

  • 🖼️ Section Image — an image displayed alongside the content text
  • 🤖 AI-Generated Image — if Generate Images was enabled, the AI created one
  • 📤 Upload Your Own — replace the AI image with your own photo or graphic
  • 🎨 Gallery Images — additional images displayed in a gallery view

Video Options

Each section also supports video in two ways:

  • 🎥 Video Embed — paste a YouTube or Vimeo embed URL directly into the embed field
  • 📹 Inline Video — embed video directly in the rich text content using HTML

Image Style Options

When using AI image generation, you can choose from various styles:

  • 📷 Photorealistic — looks like a real photograph
  • 🎨 Illustration — drawn/illustrated style
  • 🖌️ Watercolour — artistic watercolour effect
  • 🧸 Cartoon — child-friendly cartoon style
  • And more...
💡 Tip: Use your own photos wherever possible — especially for activities where students need to see exact positions, equipment, or techniques. AI images are great for decoration but real photos are better for instruction.
Step 6 of 6

Cloning, Best Practices & Workflow Tips

Step 6

🏆 Step 6: Best Practices & Workflow Tips

📋 Cloning Content

You can clone (copy) any program, plan, or activity to create a new version:

  • Click "Clone" or "Copy" on the content's view page
  • A complete copy is created in your account
  • Modify the copy without affecting the original
  • Great for creating variations — e.g. same lesson for different age groups

🏗️ Recommended Content Creation Workflow

  1. Plan your structure — decide on programs, lesson counts, and activity format
  2. Create the program — write a strong prompt and enable AI generation
  3. Review generated lessons — read through each plan the AI created
  4. Fine-tune weak sections — use the Fine-tune feature on anything that needs improvement
  5. Edit activity content — add your expertise, fix details, add real examples
  6. Add your own media — replace AI images with real photos; add instructional videos
  7. Link skills — connect activities to your skill framework
  8. Push changes — ensure any edits are reflected in all plans
  9. Set visibility — update access status for your intended audience
  10. Test it — open the plan as an instructor would and go through it

💡 Quality Tips

  • 🎯 Be specific in prompts — mention ages, skill levels, equipment, venue, and duration
  • ⏱️ Include timing — put durations on each activity so instructors can pace the lesson
  • 🔀 Vary your activities — mix instruction, practice, games, and discussion
  • ⚠️ Add safety notes — especially for physical activities
  • 📌 Use phases — Warm Up, Main, Cool Down helps instructors navigate quickly
  • 🔗 Link related skills — makes skill tracking seamless
  • 📸 Use real photos — for technique demonstration, equipment setup
  • 🔄 Iterate — don't aim for perfection on the first pass
⚠️ Important: Always review AI-generated content before sharing it with instructors or making it public. AI is a great starting point but your expertise is what makes it excellent.
