To get the body moving in order to warm our muscles up correctly for a basketball game.   Talk about stable body position when landing -  - feet shoulder width apart - knees bent - toes, balls, heels. talk about why we land like this (less chance of injury on our bodies)

Octopus

Start with 3 taggers. These taggers can run anywhere on the court. Tagger or coach calls out a category e.g. black shorts, and anybody that is wearing black shorts needs to run from the baselinbe thery are on and try to reach the opposite baseline without getting tagged. If tagged, the student then becomes seaweed, meaning they can tag people but can not move and must stay planted on the spot they were tagged.

Activities

hula hoop race

Get the students to make a circle while holding hands. Put the hoop in between two students hands. the aim of the game is to get the hula hoop from the starting position, all the way around the group and back to the start without the students letting go of each others hands.
