Why do we keep the ball close to our body?

Did your team work well together? if so/not how come?
Ball Mastery (Kick up)
This activity is to improve students first touch and cordination. Everyone in the class will have a ball.
(students can be creative and use different parts of their foot, there is no right or wrong way of doing this)
Round 1: Students will attempt to commplete bounce, kick & catch before moving to round 2
Round 2: Students will see how many bounce and kick ups they can do without losing control of the ball (taking away the catch).
Round 3: Students will now see how many kick ups they can complete without a bounce.
Encourage the students to also use their weaker foot.
Round 4: Students will try use as many body parts as they can to keep the ball from touching the floor. They can make their own combination
Add or take away the bounce. Try it with a partner.
Use a balloon or a different type of ball.
Players (dribblers) with a football move around the area. One or two players
are robbers and attempt to intercept dribblers’ balls without making body contact. Play with one robber per seven dribblers
What to do:
One or two players are robbers and start without a ball. All other players (dribblers) spread out in the playing area with a ball each.
On your signal, robbers attempt to win possession of a player’s ball.
When a robber wins possession of a ball, the dribbler and robber change places.
Play continues until you call ‘Time!’
Tips
• Remind robbers not to kick wildly when attempting to win ball possession.
• A player will lose possession of the ball if they run out of the pitch to avoid a robber.
Change it
• All players have a ball and attempt to kick other players’ balls out of the area, while maintaining possession of their own ball.
• Decide how the robber should gain ball possession: • Easy — ball is ‘tagged’ (touched) by the robber
• Progression — 1 v 1 tackle.
Make playing area bigger/smaller. Have more robbers.
Change the way you move with the ball. change the type of ball
Put students into teams of 3 or 4. Set up 6 Mini games with one goal at the end of each playing area. The playing area will depend on how much space you have but try aim to make each game area 15 metres length and 10 metres width. There will be no goal keepers to begin with as the goals will be small (3 metres). When the ball goes out of play rather than taking a throw in, the players must pass to a team mate instead. If the ball goes out for goal kick or a team has scored then that team must retreat back to their half so it gives the other team a chance to play forward with no pressure.
The students will now get a chance to put the skills they have worked on into a game like situation, games with smaller numbers mean more involvment. They will play 5 minute games before playing against a new team.
Can add in rules such as: must complete 2 passes before scoring, if a team completes 5 passes it counts as a goal, add goal keepers in, etc.
Make playing area bigger or smaller. Make teams uneven.
