How did we score points today? Why is it harder to catch the ball over long distances?
Each student will have a ball. Their aim is to throw the ball up in the air and complete the most amount of claps possible before catching the ball.
Teaching Points: Eyes focused on the ball, position your body in line with the ball, move forward to meet the ball.
To make it easier: throw and catch taking away the clap part, use a different type of ball. To make it harder: kick the ball up instead of throwing.

In pairs one student will hold the ball with two hands, facing his/her partner. The child takes one step and torpedo kicks the ball to their partner who catches the ball and takes a step back before kicking it back. The aim is to see how far apart each pair can get. If the ball is dropped then that person must take a step closer to their partner.
Teaching points for the Torpedo kick (kicking for distance): laces away from faces, line ball up with target, dominate hand on top of ball, weaker hand underneath the ball, hold ball on a slight angle, hold ball same side as kicking leg, toes is where it goes (point your toes at your target), see the ball hit the foot, ball should hit outside of boot/shoe, kick through the ball, ball should spin in a spiral motion rather than spinning backwards like a drop punt.
Teaching points for Handball (passing): one hand under the ball, end of the ball pointing slightly up, punch the ball with a downward motion of the back top of the ball, contact arm should be bent, almost to a 90-degree angle. Step forward with opposite foot when contacting the ball, swings arms forward to promote momentum, the ball must spin backward!
Teaching points for catching: eyes focused on the ball, position your body in line with the ball, have arms out ready, move forward to meet the ball.

Split class in half to create to teams. One team will be spread across the kicking area, while the second team will wait behind the first team for their turn. One team at a time on the coaches call will torpedo kick thier ball all at the same time into the scoring zones. If the ball travels lands past first set of cones = 1 point, if the ball lands past second set of cones = 2 points, 3rd set of cones = 3 points. Add all points together for that team. The second team will have their turn then compare scores, play a couple of rounds.

First set up the area. The playing field can be set up to any dimensions. A suitable size would be approximately twice as long as the distance that the players can drop punt the ball (where the ball is dropped from the players hands and kicked before it hits the ground).
Rules
Teams can consist of any number of players, with the objective of kicking the ball through the opposition team’s goals. If the ball goes through oppostion's middle goal, this results in scoring 6 points. If the ball travels through oppositions wider goals this results in 1 point.
Once a point has been scored, the team against whom the point was scored may bring the ball back approximately 1 quarter of the distance of the playing field, and kick it to restart the game.
Wherever the team receiving the kick first touches the ball, is from where they must kick it back in order to try to force their opposition backwards – and ultimately – score. The person who has stopped the ball may punt kick, grubber kick or place it on the ground and soccer kick it – or hand it to a team mate (they cannot move with the ball). Share the ball around your team.
If a receiving team catches a kick on the full (before it has touched the ground); they are entitled to take 3 steps forward before taking their own kick. If the ball is kicked out of the playing area, the non-offending team receives possession where the ball went out; plus gains 3 steps forward.
Team with most points at end of the game wins.
Smaller games means more players involved.
