Set up the zones for Ki O Rahi as shown in the below picture. Split the class into 3 teams with one team starting on attack, one starting on defence and one watching. The team that is on offence must have the ball. The first thing they must do is to tag as many Pou as they can with the ball, thus collecting points. After this, they must run with the ball through Te Roto Zone and into Pawero Zone without being tagged by the defence. If they successfully get through, then they would bank the points they had collected when tagging the Pou. Start the game with 2 defenders in the outer zone, and add 2 new defenders for every 3 passes the attacking team makes. Select 2 defenders who will join as the Taniwha, and are responsible for tagging the players who are running through Te Roto zone. Rotate the teams so that everybody gets an opportunity to attack, defend and watch.
