Split the group into two teams, one batting and one fielding.
Batting team line up behind a Tee, whilst the fielders spread out infront. On the field is 4 spots spread out evenly in diamond shape (including a batting spot at Tee).
Batter hits the ball off Tee and runs anticlockwise around the spots as fast as they can. Whilst this is happening, fielders are working together to get the ball to touch all the spots and back to the Tee before the batter/runner. Fielders have to be at least 1m away from the spots before the ball is hit, but as soon as it is striked, they may move close and wait for the ball to be collected so they can touch it down on a spot before throwing it to another spot.
If the ball gets back onto Tee before batter, batting team lose one life. After 5 lives swap over.
- Batters must hit ball out infront of them.
- Ball can't be run with (must be thrown from person to person / spot to spot).
- One fielder needs to stand near home base Tee to place ball on it before batter reaches the home base spot. (similar to wicket keeper/backstop).
- Ball doesn't have to travel in order of clockwise or anti clockwise when touching spots (although can be a modification to make it harder/slower for fielders).
Modifications:
- with younger groups, fielders CAN move with ball if finding it too hard to catch and throw accurately.
- use bigger ball for younger groups if hitting is too hard.
- batter is out if ball is caught.
